Early life and education

Addison Rae

Addison Rae Easterling was born on October 6, 2000, and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, to parents Monty Lopez and Sheri Easterling. Rae has two younger brothers, Enzo Lopez and Lucas Lopez, and an older half-sister, Macye Neumeyer, who has two daughters of her own. Rae’s parents initially divorced when she was younger and were on and off often throughout her childhood, before remarrying in 2017, later divorcing again in 2022.

Rae started dancing competitively at the age of six, attending competitions across the country. Before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her career, she briefly attended Louisiana State University (LSU), where she studied broadcast journalism in the fall, aiming to become a sports broadcaster. However, she dropped out after gaining popularity on TikTok. In an interview with Elle magazine, Rae explained her decision to move to Los Angeles, saying: “A few people in LA reached out to me, and I was like ‘I need to go. I need to go.’ So my parents supported me fully.”

Career

2019–2023: TikTok fame and career beginnings

Rae first gained attention after joining the social media app TikTok in July 2019, where she uploaded dance videos to trending songs. She briefly joined the TikTok collective The Hype House in December 2019. Within a few months, Rae gained over one million followers on the app and left LSU in November. As of November 2025, she has amassed over 88 million followers on TikTok. She later signed with talent agency WME in January 2020. In July, Addison released a weekly Spotify-exclusive podcast with her mother, Mama Knows Best, covering their personal and career lives. Rae later relaunched this podcast under the name That Was Fun?.

In March 2021, Rae entered the music industry and released her debut single, “Obsessed.” The single received negative reviews and was originally intended to be the lead single for her upcoming project but was temporarily shelved. That same year, Rae launched her own cosmetics line, Item Beauty, which was discontinued in 2023.

She also founded her own fragrance line. In August, Rae made her feature film debut as Padgett in the Netflix comedy He’s All That, a remake of the 1999 teen comedy She’s All That. The film was the most streamed movie during its release week, but received generally negative reviews from critics.

In February 2022, it was announced that Rae had joined the cast of a film titled Fashionista, produced by Paramount. That same month, multiple songs from her unreleased EP leaked on YouTube, which Rae initially feared might harm her music career. However, the tracks gained popularity online, prompting her to release her debut extended play AR on August 18, 2023. The EP received generally positive reviews and debuted at number 19 on the US Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. In November, Rae appeared as Gaby in the slasher film Thanksgiving (2023).

It sold 48,500 album-equivalent units in its first week, including 23,000 pure album sales and 25,500 streaming equivalent album units from 33 million streams. On June 17, Rae announced her first headlining tour, The Addison Tour, with dates across Europe, North America, and Australia from August through November 2025. In October 2025, she performed “Diet Pepsi” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, wearing a sparkling gold gown first worn by burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee in the 1950s.

She appeared in the third season of Netflix’s biographical crime drama anthology series Monster: The Ed Gein Story as Evelyn Hartley. Rae is also set to star in the live-action animated road comedy film Animal Friends alongside Ryan Reynolds and Aubrey Plaza, scheduled for release on May 1, 2026. In November 2025, she received a nomination for Best New Artist at the 68th Grammy Awards.

Musical style

Music critics have categorized Rae’s music as dance-pop, bubblegum pop, and synth-pop. She has mentioned being influenced by many artists, including Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Rihanna, Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Sophie, Arca, and Charli XCX. In a conversation with Interview magazine, Rae reflected on her influences, saying, “I love a woman who does it all… I love a girl that does it all with no filter, it’s just ingrained in me.”

Vogue notes that Rae has received attention from music fans online for her unexpectedly eclectic taste; artists like FKA Twigs, Yves Tumor, and Kelela appear on her playlists, which stylistically span recent avant-garde hip-hop to the cream of 2000s Timbaland-produced R&B. In a trailer video for her debut self-titled album, Rae acknowledged that she is “not the same person you used to know,” alluding to her social media rebrand.

In an interview with W Magazine, Rae shared that for her first label meeting with Columbia Records, instead of bringing music, she brought a binder filled with printed photos, colors, and words. Before the album had any sound or music, it existed purely as a collection of visions, visuals, and words. Rae also described the creation of Addison, saying,

designed to provide mood benefits in addition to fragrance. The fragrances come in bottles that change color with temperature, offering a sensory and novelty element, with each scent described as fruity, floral, or fresh woody. Rae also co-founded Item Beauty, a cosmetics and skincare brand promoting clean, cruelty-free, and vegan-friendly products that were dermatologist-tested. As of 2023, the brand was discontinued. In 2022, Rae partnered with Alani Nu to create her own energy drink flavor, “Berry Pop.”

Rae was the face of the Marc Jacobs x Vaquera bag collaboration, a Y2K-inspired bag celebrating Marc Jacobs’ 40th anniversary in November 2024. She was also seen using Chanel N°5 in her “Aquamarine” music video. On the day of the release of her debut album Addison, Rae partnered with Matchaful in New York City, handing out their collaborative drink “Summer Forever” to the first 50 guests in line.

In August 2025, Rae announced a collaboration with Lucky Brand, debuting the Addison Ultra Low Rise Flare, a style inspired by early 2000s fashion. Rae had already been wearing the jeans during her live performances leading up to the launch. Together, Rae and Lucky Brand aimed to “bring back the Y2K aesthetic with the goal of turning low-rise skeptics into believers.”

In the media

In March 2020, Australian rapper The Kid Laroi released the song “Addison Rae,” named after Rae, which became popular on social media. Following this, Rae appeared in Lil Mosey’s “Blueberry Faygo” music video. Later that year, Rae was mentioned by rapper Lil Yachty in his song “E-ER,” which sparked a feud between him and Rae’s then-boyfriend, Bryce Hall. In August 2022, Rae faced backlash for a post in which she wore the “Holy Trinity” bikini, a collaboration

between Adidas and the brand Praying. The bikini had the words “Father” and “Son” on its bra and “Holy Spirit” on its bottom, which some Christians found offensive. Rae later removed the post. Rae has appeared on the covers of several international fashion and entertainment magazines and has been featured in numerous editorials.

She first appeared on the digital cover of Glamour UK in February 2021, discussing mental health and her acting career. Since then, she has been on the covers of Rolling Stone (February 2025), Vogue France (March 2025), ELLE US (May 2025, Women in Music issue), Billboard (August 2025), and W Magazine (Volume V, 2025). Her editorial features include Vogue US (August 2023), Interview Magazine (Summer 2024), and Vanity Fair US (September 2021).

Addison Rae

Rae appeared at the 2024 MTV VMAs wearing an all-white look inspired by Madonna and also served as a presenter at the ceremony. She appeared in Saint Laurent’s November 2024 short film series As Time Goes By, directed by Nadia Lee Cohen, which featured Chloë Sevigny, Joey King, John Waters, and others. Rae also attended the Miu Miu SS25 show alongside Petra Collins. Rae joined other celebrities in the revival of the navel piercing trend in the 2020s, alongside Ice Spice and Billie Eilish. In July 2025, she appeared in Sombr’s ’70s-inspired “12 to 12” music video.

She attended the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City, having previously attended in 2022 and 2024. Rae appeared as a guest and presenter alongside designer Christopher John Rogers, presenting the American Emerging Designer of the Year award, and met with leading fashion figures including A$AP Rocky and Naomi.

Personal life

In October 2020, Rae confirmed she was in a relationship with social media personality Bryce Hall through various social media posts; however, they ended their relationship the following year. In June 2021, Rae was reported to be dating Omer Fedi, an Israeli musician and producer. The couple separated around October 2025 after four years together, with reports indicating that the split was amicable and that Rae chose to focus on her career.

In an April 2025 interview with Elle magazine, Rae reflected on her early videos, saying, “I wasn’t going to let being cringe and posting a million videos stop me… I can appreciate that girl and say that was a girl who was going to make it happen, no matter what that meant doing.” She added, “I wasn’t doing anything harmful. I was just having a dandy time dancing.”

Rae discussed stepping back from social media, explaining that she had “felt so misunderstood” after “sharing so much” of herself online and had come to value her privacy, noting that “privacy becomes really important over time.” She said that “being misunderstood is definitely annoying,” but has learned not to take criticism personally, reflecting that when she moved to Los Angeles at 19, she was still “figuring out who [she] was.”
