Tiger Shroff Real Name

Jai Hemant Shroff (born 2 March 1990), known professionally as Tiger Shroff, is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films. Born to actors Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Dutt, he made his acting debut with the action-romance film Heropanti (2014), for which he won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male.

Shroff went on to star in commercially successful action films such as Baaghi (2016), Baaghi 2 (2018), and War (2019). This was followed by a series of less successful big-budget action films including Heropanti 2 (2021), Ganapath (2023), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024), and Baaghi 4 (2025), which contributed to a decline in his career.

In 2019, Tiger Shroff co-founded the mixed martial arts organization Matrix Fight Night (MFN). He has been featured in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list and has also released several singles as a singer.

Early life and background

Tiger Shroff was born on 2 March 1990, to Indian film actor Jackie Shroff and his wife Ayesha Shroff, a film producer and former actress. He has a younger sister named Krishna Shroff. On his paternal side, he is of Gujarati and Turkmen ancestry, while from his maternal side, he is of Bengali and Belgian descent. His maternal grandfather was Air Vice Marshal Ranjan Dutt, a Vir Chakra awardee.

Tiger Shroff is a devout Hindu and a devotee of Shiva, attributing his physique to Shiva. He observes a fast every Monday and during the Mahashivaratri festival. He studied at the American School of Bombay.

Due to his experience in martial arts, he has frequently helped other actors train for films. In 2014, he was awarded an honorary fifth-degree black belt in Taekwondo.

Career

Breakthrough (2014–2020)

In 2In 2012, Tiger Shroff was signed by producer Sajid Nadiadwala to make his film debut in Sabbir Khan’s action-romantic comedy Heropanti. To prepare for the role, he took flexibility training under Ziley Mawai. Released in 2014, Heropanti was a commercial success, grossing ₹780 million (US$9.2 million) worldwide. He received praise for his dancing skills, action sequences, physique, and ability to perform stunts, though some critics noted shortcomings in his acting, looks, and dialogue delivery.







Sweta Kaushal of Hindustan Times called his dialogues forced and said his expressions did nothing in a given situation. Despite finding his performance a little unconvincing, she praised his action sequences as admirable and called him a great dancer. Shroff’s portrayal earned him the Screen Award for Best Male Debut and the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male, along with a nomination in the same category at the 60th Filmfare Awards.

In 2016, Tiger Shroff reunited with Nadiadwala and Sabbir Khan for Baaghi, set against the backdrop of a martial arts school and featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Sudheer Babu. Earning ₹1.29 billion (US$15 million) worldwide, Baaghi was a success. That year, he also played a martial arts teacher who gains superpowers in Remo D’Souza’s superhero film A Flying Jatt alongside Jacqueline Fernandez. In 2017, Shroff teamed up with Sabbir for the third time in the dance film Munna Michael. Both A Flying Jatt and Munna Michael were unsuccessful at the box office.

In 2018, Shroff appeared in Ahmed Khan’s Baaghi 2, a spiritual sequel to Baaghi and the second installment of the Baaghi film series, opposite Disha Patani. Produced by Nadiadwala, he played a rebellious army officer on a mission to find his ex-girlfriend’s missing daughter. Baaghi 2 grossed ₹1.65 billion (US$20 million) domestically in India and over ₹2.58 billion (US$31 million) worldwide, becoming one of the top-grossing Bollywood films of the year.







In 2019, Shroff appeared in Punit Malhotra’s teen drama Student of the Year 2, his first mainstream romantic drama. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, it was a standalone sequel to Student of the Year and featured Shroff as a college student competing in an annual school championship. Critics praised his performance, noting that he carried the film on his shoulders.

Later in 2019, Shroff starred in Siddharth Anand’s action thriller War alongside Hrithik Roshan. The film became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year and Shroff’s highest-grossing release, earning 4.76 billion Indian rupees worldwide and 3.18 billion rupees domestically in India, with a record-breaking opening collection of over ₹53.35 crore.

In 2020, he starred in Baaghi 3, the third installment of the Baaghi film series, reuniting with Shraddha Kapoor. Although collections were affected by COVID-19-related theatre closures, the film earned 1.37 billion Indian rupees worldwide.

Career decline (2021–present)

After no releases in 2021, Shroff starred in the 2022 action sequel Heropanti 2, opposite Tara Sutaria. The film received negative reviews from critics and became a box-office failure. In 2023, Shroff played a dual role in Vikas Bahl’s science fiction action film Ganapath, reuniting with Kriti Sanon. While praised for his action sequences, critics noted that he struggled to convey emotional depth, and the film was also a major commercial failure.







In 2024, Shroff teamed with Akshay KuIn 2024, Shroff starred in Ali Abbas Zafar’s action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, released during Eid. Critics were harsh, dismissing the performances of the male leads, and the film performed poorly, marking Shroff’s third consecutive box office disappointment. He then appeared in Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe franchise in the ensemble action sequel Singham Again (2024), starring Ajay Devgn. Released on Diwali 2024, the film had modest box-office returns compared to its high production budget.

In 2025, Shroff starred in the action sequel Baaghi 4, directed by A. Harsha in his Hindi directorial debut. The film featured Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu. Released on 5 September 2025, it received negative reviews and underperformed at the box office, though it became Shroff’s highest-grossing solo lead film in the post-pandemic era. It also became the lowest-grossing film in the Baaghi series.

In 2017, Shroff became the Brand Ambassador and co-owner of Bengaluru Tigers, owned by 8K Miles Media Group. The team won third place in the inaugural season of Super Fight League, India’s first mixed martial arts league. In 2018, he was made the Brand Ambassador of Prowl and has also represented brands such as Pepsi, ASICS India, Casio India, 8:00 PM Premium Black, Macho, Garnier, Forca, and Great White Electronic. In 2020, he was featured in Eastern Eye’s dynamic dozen for the decade list, and in 2024, he was included in GQ’s “35 Most Influential Young Indians” list.

In 2023, Shroff performed in Doha for the “Entertainer No. 1” tour alongside several prominent actors and singers. In 2024, he launched the football club Mumbay FC, which participated in the 2024–25 Mumbai Premier League, representing the fifth tier of the Indian football league system. Shroff also signed as a marquee player and made his senior professional debut for the club in a 1–0 win over Bombay Gymkhana on 30 October 2024.
